Citizenship Education

It’s about knowing what goes on in the world around you and being able to make a difference.

Who is a Citizen?

The dictionary definition of the word "citizen" is:

A person owing loyalty to and entitled to the protection of a state or nation.
A resident of a city or town, especially one entitled to vote and enjoy other privileges there.
A civilian.
A native, inhabitant, or denizen of a particular place: "We have learned to be citizens of the world, members of the human community" (Franklin D. Roosevelt, ex-president of USA).

How can I be a Good Citizen? 

Good citizens understand that they have a responsibility to the community, environment and law.

Good Citizens:

·         Are good neighbours who care about others.

·         Share their time and skills with the community to make it better, cleaner and safer.

·         Conserve resources by practicing the three R's: Reduce. Re-use. Recycle.

·         Stay informed on issues and voice their opinions by voting.

Bad citizens:

·         Only look out for themselves

·         Litter and waste resources.
