Book Corners

Each class has an attractive, well stocked book corner so that from their first days at school, children can develop the habit of browsing amongst books and choosing for themselves the books that they are interested in reading.

Our books are chosen for the quality of their text and illustrations. We buy books that will appeal to children and will in other ways support them as they learn to read.

Children have access to books from various genres, fiction and non-fiction and poetry. Our books represent various cultural backgrounds and we have books in various languages.

We arrange displays in book areas to promote enthusiasm and care for the book stock, highlighting particular authors, illustrators, themes and genres. Children are involved in setting up and maintaining these displays.
