Art Around the World Art Around our School Places to Visit to see Art

We want the children to have an enjoyment of art, craft and design. During Art lessons it is important, the children learn a wide variety of skills and techniques and the children are given the experience of a wide range of 2d and 3d art processes. We want the children to be able to explore a range of starting points for practical work, for example themselves and their experiences, images, stories, drama, music, natural and made objects and environments. In both the infants and the juniors the children learn about artists from different countries and times and start to appreciate their work and ask appropriate questions.

It is important to us as a school that the children use their artistic skills to enhance learning and enjoyment in other curriculum areas.

Special Exhibition

Year 1 walked down Church Street to look at the buildings in the local area. They then collaged boxes thinking about the features they needed to include.
Year 4 sketched cityscapes. Can you recognise this building?

Year 5 did observational paintings of the school using watercolours.

Can you imagine what the new school will look like?

Year 6 learnt how to recycle paper. They used the recycled paper to create a collage of their fondest Gateway memories.
