Gateway
Primary School serves the children and families of the Lisson
Grove and Church Street areas of Westminster. It is a large,
very successful and very happy school where staff, children
and parents work hard and do the best they can.

HALF TERM
Next week is half term and I hope the children
have a good break. They have been working very hard and deserve a
change. I just hope the weather improves after the weekend.
We all return to school on Monday 3rd June
Sustainability Week
This week has been Sustainability Week. It has
been a huge success. Thank you to all of you who came in to find out
what the children have been learning about.
The whole school has been busy planting herbs to
sell at the summer fair. Eco club were also able to harvest a crop
of spinach which they sold to parents at coffee morning. The money
raised will be used to fund other whole school projects.
We have more themed weeks planned for
later in the year.
WELL DONE YEAR 6 & YEAR 2
Year 6 and Year 2 have completed their SATs. The
children have worked extremely hard all year and we are very proud
of them - WELL DONE.
The SATs don’t happen at a very sensible time as
there is still one sixth of the year left and work to complete. So
please don’t feel that “that’s it” and the year has ended. It
hasn’t.
The Year 6 teachers have lots of ‘fun’
activities planned but will still be focused on getting the children
ready for secondary school. There is a lot of time left in the year
and more work to cover.
ICT Mark

Following an extensive external assessment Gateway has been
awarded the prestigious ICT Mark. The award recognises the excellent
ICT work that is taking place in school. Applying for the
award really brought into focus the ICT work that we are doing each
and every day. All the children and staff deserve credit for
this achievement. In particular I would like to thank Mr Goodsir and
Mr Harwood for their exceptional hard work getting ready for the
award. Well done.
The Sheridan Award

Gateway has had a number of Head teachers over the years. Many of
you will have memories of Mr Duggan, Mr Allen, Mrs Tomlinson and
maybe even Mr Sheridan. Some of our staff, who are also ex-pupils,
remember him well.
Sadly, Mr Sheridan passed away not so long ago. He worked very
closely with the Association for Retired Head teachers and they knew
what a special place Gateway School held for him. In his memory,
they presented the school with a trophy and a cheque for £500.00
pounds. Each year the trophy and a prize will be awarded to a child
in Year 6 who is particularly good at Drama.
